P0734 Code - Troubleshooting

The P0734 code implies that something uncommon has been detected by the power-train control module (PCM) with the forth gear ratio in the transmission of the vehicle. Usually this will have to occur several times before storing a problem code.

The power-train control module utilizes the information it gets from various sensors that collect and calculate data such as the velocity of the car, the throttle position, the RPM of the engine and other measures to determine the percentage of the equipment. A Check Engine Light will be illuminated if there is a distinction between the required gear ratio and the real gear ratio (various times).
